Orewa Beach Trip!

Hello Everyone,

Last week Wednesday 27th of March 2024 HayPark Senior classes went on a trip to Orewa Beach. The instructors Toby and Ismara welcomed us and gave us instructions to follow as we are on the trip. It was a 45-50 minute drive to our destination and back. It was a really sunny and hot day that when I got home I hopped in the shower and when I got out I went straight to sleep. I want to thank the staff members for preparing this trip for us and a thank you to Toby and Ismara. Here is the full story about the Orewa Beach Trip! I would share my Google Doc but I will also copy and paste my work onto this blog post. Thank you for your time!

Story:

The start of the day:

On 27th of March 2024 HayPark Senior classes went to Orewa Beach for a surf trip. Our teacher Mrs Patel told us the day before our trip that we had to bring a hat, swimming togs, covered shoes, sandals, water bottle, enough lunch and a jumper or jacket. Some students from my classroom got split up, half of my class went with room 6 (Mr Albert) and the other half went with room 8 (Miss Mackenzie). When everyone was in the hall waiting for the buses, Miss Alano and Miss Campbell had a talk with all of us before leaving. The drive to our destination was about 45-50 minutes.

Middle of the day:

When we arrived we all lined up outside the bus, walked all the way to the beach that wasn’t that far. We all got seated and Ismara and Toby gave us instructions. We also got into groups of our classes. Room 6 was with Mr Morris, room 8 was with Toby and room 9 was with Mrs Patel. We played Capture The Flag, and we also got to swim after the game. Next we surfed with Toby and Ismara. The first step was to get changed in our swimsuits. We then practised on the sand with the surf boards. Then we were ready to go. I was having fun until one of my classmates hit my front tooth with the nose of their surfboard. Afterwards, I took a quick shower and got changed. My next group with my class was Mr Morris, Mr Morris let us have lunch before we were ready to go. We were meant to play games like infinity tag or octopus but we ended up going to the park. It was so fun until we had to walk back and pack up.

How to play capture the flag:

To play Capture the flag you will get put into groups. When all the preparing the game and teams are finished you’ll lay down on the floor behind the line and put your hands behind your back. When the adult says “Go” then you will get up as fast as you can and run all the way to your target, your target is a stick or anything that will be dug into the ground. The whole point of the game is to get the object thats across from where you are. My class played it on the sand and we used cut up pieces of a hose because we didn’t have flags. The rules are simple, play fair and no cheating. It depends on how many groups of teams there are. We had 5 groups and 5 sticks. We had to run across to grab the stick. It would be easy the first couple rounds until 1 stick gets removed, the whole point of removing a stick is, whoever doesn’t have a stick in their hand after running they will be eliminated from the game. At the end of the game there was only 1 hose and 2 people. The people who were racing were my friend Vienna and this boy in our class room. Vienna won by the way 🙂

End of the day:

Finally it was time to go back to school. Before we left the staff members from our school were yelling out to everyone whose clothing is whose because some students forgot their t-shirt or are wearing someone else’s along with hats, socks, jumpers and bags. When that was sorted we lined up and walked to our buses. By the time we got back to school the bell rang. I got picked up by my mum and went home 🙂

My Holiday Recount.

Hello everyone!

Last year during the holidays I went to Rotorua with my parents and brothers. I also have two other sisters but they are overseas with my Nena. Before we went on our holiday my mum took me shopping after school on Thursday. When I got home I hopped in the shower, after I tried on my new clothes and showed my mum. I packed that night because the next day we had to wake up and get on the road before the traffic started to get packed. I helped my dad put all our things in the back of our truck. My dad, Baby brother and I waited for my mum and older brother to get ready because they were taking LONG!!!! After a few minutes we were all ready to hit the road. The drive took two long hours. For the first hour my older brother was on his phone and I was playing with my baby brother. The second hour my siblings and I fell asleep and woke up to the time being only 20 more minutes before we get to our destination. The next 20 minutes we arrived, my dad and I went to the front desk to pay for the place we were staying at. My siblings and I then went to look for our room, there were two bathrooms, two rooms, a living room, a kitchen and a hot tub at the back along with our very own pool. I went to turn on the hot tub for my mum while my parents and baby brother went to go buy some food. My older brother and I swam in the pool until my parents came back. The next day we went to Skyline, Skyline is a place where there are activities you can go on and have fun. We stayed at the hotel for 3 days and went home.

That’s all and I had so much fun 🙂

Weekly Quiz!!

Hello Bloggers!

This week Monday Webber class did a weekly quiz where we had to read a question and search it up on google so you can get an answer. We also made slides about the weekly quiz where we answer the question on the slides. I’m not really good at explaining things so if you would like to understand me more look below. Hope you enjoy it, have a good day!

Cybersmart Kawa Of Care!

Fakalofa Lahi Atu Bloggers!

In week two Webber class did a Cybersmart challenge. We first had to go on a Google Doc and name it our initials and put “Mission one”. For the second task we had to create two slides, the first slide had to be named “Mission two” and the second slide had to be a random picture of anything! The last activity we went on Google Drive, click new, and go on Google Drawings, next we had to insert a photo of ourselves and write our name inside a shape or not. I put mine in a shape!

Here is my work I really hope you enjoy!

Thank you for your time!

Superhero SLJ Cybersmart

Talofa Lava Bloggers,

Today for Cybersmart we are doing Summer Learning Journey. First we had to fill out this form about ourselves and more that is about SLJ. Then we had to go on this app that you could find any superhero of your own choice, then we went onto google drawing and put the photo of our superhero and described what it looked like. Then we had to write a blog post. If you would like to see what superhero I picked scroll down.

The most part that I struggled with was trying to work out the app to find my superhero

The easy part was filling out the form and writing my blog post

The part I enjoyed the most was finding what superhero I was interested in

Do you have a favourite superhero?

Here is my superhero!

Dinosaur Narrative Story

Malo E Lelei bloggers!

Yesterday Webber class did narrative writing while some of our classmates went to Kio Rahi. We had to go on our class site, term 1 learning task, week 5 and then we came upon this picture of a little girl name Isla and a dinosaur. There was a story that we had carry on in our own words. There was more pictures that had a sentence challenge, sentence starters, word bank, punctuation challenge along with question time where we had to answer 3 questions that were asked about the story of the dinosaur. Here is my story below!!

Story time:

On her island holiday, Isla stumbled upon a creature like no other. Its scales glistened in the sun as it lazily opened one eye to look at her. Without fear, Isla reached out and the giant lizard blinked slowly in response, accepting her touch. It was a dinosaur, but to Isla, it simply felt like a new friend. Despite its sharp teeth and towering size, she felt a strange sense of comfort. As the dinosaur stared in her eyes Isla got up and walked away. A few minutes later Isla saw the dinosaur again, just creeping up to her as she was picking up sticks, the dinosaur began to lick her as if it was a dog. Isla put her hand on top of the dinosaurs head. She then looked around to see if the dinosaur had any family members. Isla was fearless of the big creature. Isla looked deeply into the dinosaur’s eyes she stumbled upon his big sharp teeth and his little red tongue. She started to realise her parents were calling her, Isla knew no one was going to believe her, she got up and pet the dinosaur whispering “Bye” with a smile. The dinosaur then licked Isla’s hand and “ROARED”. He stayed in the same place and watched Isla walk out of the forest sad she was leaving. The end!

Thank you for your time and Happy new year!

How to survive in water

Talofa Lava Bloggers!

I will be giving you all some solutions of how to survive in water. Even though I didn’t go swimming this year I still went swimming last year. If you really like swimming/surfing in the sea then you might want to read this :).

Doggy Paddle:

If you ever struggle with floating in deep water then you should try out Doggy Paddling. Doggy Paddle is easy and has small steps. All you have to do is put both hands in front of your chest, fold your legs and then start moving your hands back and forth not at the same time. If you would like me to put a video down below to demonstrate the steps on how to doggy paddle, There is a video if you scroll down 🙂

Life Jacket:

The reason why a Life Jacket was made was to save us from drowning. There are a range of different sizes for different body types. Life jackets are normally very bright colours that make you pop out! There is a very obvious reason why. Its because if you are ever stranded you will pop out more and it well be easier for someone to find you.

Slow Breaths:

When you are stranded in the Ocean you should take slow and steady breaths. It will you help you save your energy. Also when taking small breaths you will be more calm and relaxed.

Here is the video of how to Doggy Paddle 🙂
